Founded in 1890, Civic Morning Musicals serves the community by providing non-commercial music in live performance to Central New York audiences. We also support musical youth, who hold the future of classical music in their hands.
CMM produces two concert series. The Wednesday Recital Series holds about 30 concerts per year, free and open to the public, in the Hosmer Auditorium at the Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY. Concerts begin at 12:30pm and are up to 50 minutes in length.
The other series, Live! At The Everson (in this year, known as the 125th Anniversay Season series) features prominent professsional musicians closely associated with Central New York audiences. These concerts are a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Civic Morning Musicals provides recordings of our finest concerts to WCNY-FM for broadcast.
More than just concerts, Civic Morning Musicals hosts a regional Annual Competition for Singers in November and an annual Youth Concerto Competition. The Youth Concerto Competition offers winners a chance to play with the Symphoria orchestra as concerto soloists. Our Junior Pro-Art provides a supportive, collegial atmosphere of master classes, recitals, and chamber music opportunities for students under college age. Civic Morning Musicals continues to focus on the future, endeavors to build new audiences by featuring local musicians, encouraging young musicians, and supporting the creation and performance of music of our time. A list of activities can be seen in CMM's Mission Statement.
CMM depends on the support of its audiences, artists and friends for its very existence. Please join our Community of Support
