Biography and Story
American Marcus Haddock’s beautiful voice and magnetic stage presence have earned him international distinction. He is one of the most sought-after tenors of his generation, and leading tenor with many of the finest companies in the world, including the Paris Opera, La Scala, Bavarian State Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Liceu of Barcelona.
Thus begins the extensive biography of the accomplishments of Marcus Haddock in opera roles all over Europe and the United States. Equally at home on the concert stage, Marcus was a frequent soloist in major choral/symphonic works, such as the Beethoven Ninth Symphony and Missa Solemnis, the Verdi Requiem and Rossini Petite Misse Solennelle.
In March of 2009, in his 50’s and at the peak of his career, Marcus was preparing to embark upon some European opera engagements in Munich, Paris and Amsterdam. Instead, he suffered a paralyzing stroke on his left side, requiring him to cancel his engagements for the next three years. Instead of a singing tour, he began a three year struggle through surgery, hospitalization, rehabilitations settings, personal trainers and a vocalogist. The rehabilitation continues and he is performing again!
Remarkably, Marcus has made tremendous strides in mobility and singing. The 15 year resident of Skaneateles is currently an Applied Instructor of Voice in Hobart and William Smith Colleges and maintains a thriving voice studio.
Please join Civic Morning Musicals in celebrating his recovery and his willingness to donate his vocal talent to support the many programs of CMM.
