Selected Favorites for Violin

Violinist Edgar Tumajyan and pianist Ida Tili-Trebicka perform works of Tchaikovsky, Sarasate, Mozart-Kreisler, and Komitas. Paola Budani will join us as a solo pianist performing works of of Prokofiev, Peçi, and Tole.

Edgar Tumajyan is a native of Yerevan, Armenia. He began his violin study at age 8, at the Tchaikovsky Specialized Music School. His bachelor’s degree is from the Yerevan State Conservatory and his master’s degree from Syracuse University, where he worked with Symphoria Concertmaster Peter Rovit. He attended the Aspen Festival as a festival fellowship awardee. His past symphonic experience has been with the orchestras of Cheyenne, Fort Collins, Tuscaloosa, and Mobile. Mr. Tumajyan has served as Associate Concertmaster of the Armenian National Theater of Opera and Ballet for three years. His solo and chamber music touring ensemble travels have taken him to Russia, Greece, Lebanon, Jordan, and to Bolivia as winner of the University of Wyoming concerto Competition. He currently is a member of the Allentown Symphony and Symphoria violin sections.

Pianist Paola Budani has been active in many concerts and festivals including the ChopinPianoFEST (Kosovo, 2017), Nei Suoni Dei Luoghi festival in (Italy, 2018) with her clarinet/viola/piano trio, the Balkan Contemporary Music Festival (Albania, 2021), Different Trains Festival (Albania, 2021), Society of Composers, Inc. Region II Conference, and other prestigious concerts in Albania, Italy, and the United States.

Paola Budani started piano lessons at the Onufri music school in Elbasan, Albania with Prof. Brikena Cerraga. She continued Bachelor studies at the University of Arts in Tirana under the Prof. Merita Rexha Tershana. Right now, she is a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Syracuse University and studies with Prof. Ida Tili-Trebicka. Her artistic activity is also diverse at Syracuse University, being part of several recitals and concerts as an accompanying pianist and as soloist, as well as pianist of the women’s choir Crouse Choral. She was Winner of the Gayle Ross pianist prize at Civic Morning Musicals Competition for Singers in 2022 and the winner of the 2023 Setnor School Concerto Competition, performing Rachmaninoff’s second concerto with the SUSO.

Pianist Ida Tili-Trebicka has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, as orchestral soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, including concerts in England, Holland, France, Italy, Greece, Albania, China, and many others.

Tili-Trebicka serves on the board of directors for CNYAMT, CMM, and Syracuse Friends of Chamber Music. She received graduate degrees in piano performance from University of Arts in Albania and Syracuse University and went on to study toward a Ph.D. degree in music and humanities at the Maxwell School at SU. She has studied under tutelage of the distinguished pedagogues Nora Cashku, Margarita Kristidhi, Robert Weirich, and others. She was an assistant professor of piano at the University of Arts and Music in Tirana, Albania, and currently is an associate professor of teaching at the Setnor School of Music.

CMM (Civic Morning Musicals) exists to support classically trained musicians and their audiences throughout the Central New York region. It is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, which produces more than 30 concerts a year and sponsors activities for young musicians.
